The Practice
Edit.
Actually used.
Actually recommended.
A little something for my fellow therapists.
sealed with good intentionsDear fellow therapist,
There are quite literally a million things to figure out when you start a private practice. Insurance credentialing, billing, payroll, paperwork, and somewhere in there, actually seeing your clients.
I've built my own therapy practice, grown a team, and spent a whole lot of time figuring out which people and platforms make running a business easier.
Everything on this page has a place in my own business. These aren't random recommendations pulled from a search result. They're the people I work with, the tools I pay for, and the services I personally use.
And here's the thing about me: when it comes to the people I work with, I care about two things. Are you good at what you do, and are you a good human to work with?
Because running a business is stressful enough without adding people who make it harder. I like people who know their stuff, are kind, and make the process feel a little less complicated.
That's exactly why the people on this page are here.
Consider this my little shortcut to some of the decisions I've already made.
A little transparency: Some links on this page are referral links, which means I may receive a benefit if you sign up. Recommendations are based on my own experience, and referral relationships are disclosed where applicable.
First, the people who
help you get paid.
Because someone has to deal with the insurance companies, the paperwork, and the billing questions. These are the people I trust with that part.

P.S. If you reach out, tell Sam I sent you. And tell her I said hi! ♡
The stuff I actually log into.
The platforms, subscriptions, and practical business essentials that have earned their place in my day-to-day.
Sessions Health
Your EHR is something you'll use nearly every day, so finding one that works for your practice matters. Sessions Health is what I use for scheduling, documentation, billing, and managing the day-to-day of my group practice.
A little perk: Complete your free trial and pay for your first month through my referral link, and we'll each receive a credit equal to one month of the base subscription.
TRY SESSIONS HEALTHGusto
Hiring your first employee is exciting. Figuring out payroll, taxes, and all the administrative pieces that come with it? Slightly less exciting.
Gusto is what I use to manage payroll for my group practice. It helps keep employee payments, payroll taxes, and HR essentials organized in one place.
Referral rewards may be available for qualifying signups. I may also receive a reward if you join through my link.
EXPLORE GUSTOGoogle Workspace
A professional email address is one of the first things I'd set up when opening a practice. I use Google Workspace for business email, calendars, and everyday administration.
It lets you use an email address connected to your own domain while keeping the familiar Gmail interface.
Eligible new customers may receive 10% off their first year with an available promotional code. Reach out to request one. I may receive a referral reward.
EXPLORE GOOGLE WORKSPACECPH Insurance
Professional liability insurance is one of those things you want figured out before seeing your first client.
CPH is the provider I use for my own professional liability coverage. They offer insurance options for mental health professionals, making them worth considering when you're comparing policies.
EXPLORE CPH INSURANCEChase Ink Business Unlimited
Software subscriptions, business expenses, and all the little purchases that add up when you're running a practice.
The Chase Ink Business Unlimited is the card I personally use. I like that it offers unlimited 1.5% cash back on eligible purchases without an annual fee, making it a straightforward option for everyday business spending.
This is a referral link, and I may receive a reward if you're approved. Credit approval and offer terms apply. Compare your options, and keep in mind that carrying a balance may result in interest charges.
EXPLORE CHASE INKThe Numbers Person
Finding a good accountant is one of those business decisions that can make a real difference, especially once you're navigating estimated taxes, payroll, expenses, and business growth.
I'm hoping to introduce you to the person I trust with this part of my business soon. For now, consider this spot reserved.
A personal recommendation is coming soon.
