How Much Does a Therapist Website Cost?

A therapist website can cost anywhere from a few hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, depending on whether you build it yourself, use a template, hire a freelancer, or work with a custom website designer or agency.

Current published pricing across therapist-focused website designers varies enormously. DIY platforms can keep the actual platform cost relatively low, while professionally built therapist websites commonly run into the thousands; some therapist-focused studios currently advertise packages around $2,000–$7,500 or more.

At The Attuned Studio, my custom therapist websites currently start at $500.

And yes, that's intentionally lower than a lot of custom website design.

I'm also a therapist and a group practice owner. I think about the price of a website a little differently because I know what it's like to build a practice when there are already approximately 900 things asking for your money.

Credentialing. EHR. Liability insurance. Business registration. CEUs. Marketing. Directory profiles. Rent, if you're in person. And, you know, occasionally paying yourself.

I don't believe thoughtful website design needs to be inaccessible to a therapist who's just trying to get their practice off the ground.

That doesn't mean every website designer should charge what I charge. Absolutely not. Different businesses have different expenses, processes, teams, expertise, timelines, and scopes.

It just means I've intentionally built my business model around offering therapists custom, strategic websites at a price that makes sense to me as someone who actually lives in this industry.

So let's talk about what you're actually paying for when you buy a therapist website, what different price points can mean, and how to figure out what makes sense for your practice.

How much does it cost to build a therapist website yourself?

DIY is usually the least expensive option in dollars.

You can use a website builder like Squarespace or Wix, choose a template, connect your domain, write your copy, select your images, set up your pages, and publish everything yourself.

Current cost guides put DIY website builders broadly in the range of a few hundred dollars per year before additional tools or services, although platform plans and pricing change over time.

If you enjoy design and technology, this can be a perfectly reasonable choice.

There is, however, another cost:

your time.

You're the one deciding:

What pages do I need?

How should my homepage be structured?

What do I write?

Why does this section look weird on mobile?

What is an H1?

Where does the SEO title go?

Why did that image suddenly become 14 feet tall?

Why is Squarespace doing that?

And my personal favorite:

WHY DID MOVING THIS ONE THING MOVE SIX OTHER THINGS?

If you have the time and genuinely want to learn it, great.

DIY doesn't mean bad.

It just means you're trading some of the financial cost for time, learning, and doing the work yourself.

How much does it cost to hire someone to build a therapist website?

This is where the range gets enormous.

You can find inexpensive template customization, freelance designers, therapist-specific designers, full-service studios, and large agencies.

Published therapist-specific offers I found currently include a $750 one-page build and $2,250 six-page package from one designer; roughly $3,000–$6,000 packages from another; a $2,950 “website in a week” offer; and custom therapist website packages at $4,800 and $7,500 from another studio.

None of those prices is inherently ridiculous.

And none of them automatically tells you whether the website is good.

Scope matters.

One designer may be customizing a template using copy you provide.

Another may be doing strategy, branding, copywriting, SEO, custom design, integrations, launch support, and months of post-launch support.

Another may have a whole team working on your project.

So when you're comparing therapist website prices, don't only ask:

“How much?”

Ask:

“What am I actually getting for that?”

Because two things called custom therapist website design can be completely different services.

Why are The Attuned Studio therapist websites $500?

Because I intentionally priced them that way.

And this is probably where being a therapist changes how I think about this business.

I own a group practice. I've hired therapists. I've paid for EHRs, marketing, insurance, systems, software, and all the tiny recurring expenses that somehow reproduce when you're not looking.

I also know what private practice can look like in the beginning.

You might be leaving an agency job.

You might have three clients.

You might still be paneled with exactly zero insurance companies.

You might be building your practice between sessions, supervision, parenting, another job, or whatever else your actual life contains.

And I didn't want a therapist to come to The Attuned Studio, see a $5,000 starting price, and immediately conclude that having a thoughtful website simply wasn't available to them yet.

So my current custom website design starts at $500.

That includes:

Custom Squarespace website design
Website copy written for you
Foundational SEO

I'm not taking a pre-built therapist template, changing the name and colors, and sending you on your way.

I learn about your practice, figure out what the website needs to communicate, write the copy, create the visual direction, build it in Squarespace, and make sure the basic SEO foundations are there.

Is that the only reasonable way to price this work?

Nope.

It's just my way.

I built The Attuned Studio around therapists because I understand therapists, and accessibility to the people building these practices is part of how I want to run it.

What is included in the cost of a therapist website?

This is probably the most important question to ask before hiring anyone.

A website quote might include some combination of:

  • Website strategy

  • Sitemap and page planning

  • Custom design

  • Template customization

  • Mobile design

  • Copywriting

  • Copy editing

  • SEO

  • Keyword research

  • Image sourcing

  • Brand direction

  • Contact or scheduling integrations

  • Domain connection

  • Google Search Console setup

  • Accessibility considerations

  • Revision rounds

  • Launch support

  • Post-launch support

Or it may include very few of those.

This is why comparing website designers purely by price can get misleading very quickly.

A $500 website with copywriting included and a $500 website where you supply every word aren't the same offer.

Neither are a $2,000 template customization and a $2,000 custom build.

Look at the deliverables.

Look at the portfolio.

Look at the process.

Look at whether the designer understands therapy practices.

And look at what you're still responsible for doing yourself.

That's how you compare the actual value.

How much does SEO for a therapist website cost?

SEO may be included in a website package, offered as an add-on, or sold separately.

And “SEO included” can mean approximately 47 different things.

Sometimes it means someone entered an SEO title and meta description on each page.

That's useful.

It is not an SEO strategy.

More substantial SEO work may include keyword research, competitor research, website structure, service-page strategy, location-page strategy, heading optimization, internal linking, Search Console setup, content strategy, and other work designed to help search engines understand the practice.

At The Attuned Studio, SEO Growth Strategy is currently $500.

My custom website builds include foundational SEO, while the separate SEO service is for practices that want a more individualized search strategy built around their services, market, competition, and growth goals.

That's an important distinction when you're comparing packages elsewhere too:

Ask what SEO actually means in that particular proposal.

How much does a group practice website cost?

Group practice websites generally cost more because there is simply more website.

More clinicians.

More bios.

More services.

More navigation.

Potentially more locations.

More internal linking.

More decisions about how prospective clients find the right person.

At The Attuned Studio, group practice websites start at $900, plus $100 per clinician.

That structure lets the cost scale with the actual practice instead of charging the same amount to a two-person group and a 20-person group.

Group practices may also need additional SEO service pages or local SEO pages depending on their growth goals.

The point isn't to create the largest website humanly possible.

It's to make a more complicated practice feel simple to navigate.

What other therapist website costs should I budget for?

The designer's fee usually isn't the only website expense.

Depending on your setup, you may also pay for:

Your website platform or hosting
Squarespace, Wix, WordPress hosting, or another platform.

Your domain
The address people use to reach your website.

Professional email
If you're using an email address associated with your domain.

Premium fonts, imagery, or software
Depending on the designer and project.

Ongoing maintenance
Some designers include support; others charge monthly or hourly.

Future pages or SEO work
Your website may grow with your practice.

These aren't necessarily hidden fees.

They're just part of owning a website, and I think it's useful to know about them before you budget exactly $500 and become personally offended when your domain renews. 😂

Is a $500 therapist website worse than a $5,000 therapist website?

No.

It's also not automatically better.

Price alone tells you surprisingly little about whether a website will actually work for your practice.

A $5,000 site can be beautiful and strategic.

A $500 site can be beautiful and strategic.

A $5,000 site can also be completely wrong for you.

And someone can DIY a genuinely excellent website for the cost of their platform subscription.

Instead of assuming price equals quality, I'd look at:

Does the designer's work actually look good?

Do their websites all look identical?

Do they understand therapist websites specifically?

Can they explain their approach to SEO?

Is copy included?

What happens if you need changes?

Who owns the website afterward?

What platform is it built on?

Does their style fit you?

Do you understand exactly what you're paying for?

Those questions tell you much more than the number by itself.

Is it worth paying for a professional therapist website?

Sometimes yes.

Sometimes no.

If you're brand new, genuinely enjoy building websites, have more time than money, and don't mind learning some SEO basics, DIY may be exactly the right choice.

You can always hire someone later.

If you have absolutely no desire to learn web design, have been “working on your website” for eight months, hate everything you've made, or need a more strategic online presence to grow your practice, paying someone else may make a whole lot of sense.

And there is a middle ground.

Maybe you DIY the website but hire someone for SEO.

Maybe you hire someone for the website but handle your own branding.

Maybe you start with a simple site now and expand your service pages later.

Your website investment should make sense for the practice you have right now, not the imaginary practice you're apparently supposed to have according to the internet.

How much should a new therapist spend on a website?

Spend an amount that doesn't destabilize your business.

I mean that.

A website is important.

It is not worth putting yourself in a financial hole because you were convinced that a “serious” private practice needs a $7,000 website before seeing its first client.

You have other expenses.

You need cash flow.

You need time to figure out what kind of practice you're actually building.

And your website can evolve.

If a larger custom investment makes sense for your established practice, wonderful.

If you're starting out and need something thoughtful, clear, and functional without spending several thousand dollars, that should be an option too.

That's a huge part of why The Attuned Studio exists in the first place.

I don't think good therapist websites should only be accessible once your practice is already thriving.

Sometimes the website is part of how you get there.

Frequently Asked Questions About Therapist Website Costs

How much does a therapist website cost in 2026?

Therapist website costs vary widely. DIY website builders can cost a few hundred dollars per year before additional services, while published therapist-specific professional website packages currently range from hundreds of dollars into several thousand dollars depending on scope and provider.

How much does The Attuned Studio charge for a therapist website?

The Attuned Studio's custom therapist website design currently starts at $500 and includes custom Squarespace design, website copywriting, and foundational SEO. Group practice websites start at $900 plus $100 per clinician.

Is it cheaper to build my therapist website myself?

Usually, yes in terms of upfront financial cost. However, DIY requires you to handle the design, copy, structure, images, mobile optimization, setup, and SEO yourself, so it's also worth considering the time you want to spend learning and building.

Why do some therapist website designers charge thousands of dollars?

Website scope varies significantly. Higher-priced projects may include strategy, extensive branding, custom development, copywriting, advanced SEO, multiple team members, integrations, more pages, and ongoing support. A higher price isn't inherently unreasonable; it's important to understand what's included.

Does therapist website design usually include SEO?

Sometimes. Some designers include foundational on-page SEO, while others sell SEO separately. Ask specifically what “SEO included” means so you know whether you're getting basic page setup or a larger search strategy.

How much does SEO for therapists cost at The Attuned Studio?

The Attuned Studio's SEO Growth Strategy is currently $500. It is separate from the foundational SEO included with custom website builds and focuses more deeply on individualized keyword, Google, and AI-search visibility strategy.

How much does a group practice website cost?

Group practice websites often cost more because they typically require additional therapist profiles, services, navigation, and website strategy. At The Attuned Studio, group practice websites currently start at $900 plus $100 per clinician.

Is an expensive therapist website always better?

No. Price reflects many things besides quality, including business model, scope, staffing, experience, and process. Portfolio quality, deliverables, strategy, fit, and what you're actually receiving are much better ways to evaluate a website designer.

Want a website without the several-thousand-dollar price tag?

That's kind of why I'm here.

I built The Attuned Studio specifically for therapists, and being a therapist and group practice owner myself absolutely shapes how I think about what this work should cost.
